Beauty For Your 20s

Being in your twenties is the time to discover life and make mistakes. Chances are the choices you make during this era will affect you in years to come. Your beauty regiment is one of said choices. Your skin looks flawless now but that’s not going to last forever so you should be conscious about taking care of it. When you reach the age of 25, your collagen and elastin starts to decrease and these two factors are vital in giving you that youthful glow.

Scared? No need to be. Read on to see what your beauty regime should be when you’re twenty so that you can age like wine.

  • Find the right cleanser

In choosing a cleanser, you need something that’ll clean your face but not strip it of any essential oils.

  • Exfoliation is key

Exfoliation helps with collagen renewal as well as unclogging pores and boosting cell renewal. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells. Make sure your exfoliating product contains salicylic acid. Secondly only exfoliate a maximum of three times a week as anything more can irritate the skin.

  • Keep it toned

Your face wash isn’t going to get to all the dirt which is why you need a toner. Make sure your toner doesn’t irritate or dry out your skin.

  • Moisturize

Moisturizers help to hydrate dry skin as well as tighten it. Your moisturizer can contain a broad spectrum SPF of at least 15. Make sure your moisturizer contains ingredients like aloe and vitamins E as it’ll keep your skin radiant.

  • Sunscreen is your skin’s BFF

Sun rays are to be blame when it comes to accelerating the aging process in the skin which is why it’s imperative to continuously wear sunscreen. Make sure to choose a sunscreen that’s broad spectrum- protects against UVB and UVA rays. UVA rays are responsible for aging and UVB rays cause sunburns and skin cancer. Be conscious of applying it daily (even in winter) as sun damage is cumulative.

  • Your skin is what you eat

Your skin is a perfect representation of what you put into your body. If you don’t consume enough water per day, your skin may appear dry and flaky. Vegetables and fruits are also beneficial to your skin.

  • No makeup in your dreams

Never sleep with you make up. Ever. It doesn’t matter how tired you are. Sleeping with make-up can block pores which leads to serious breakouts. It also prevents the body from repairing itself fully. Unfortunately make-up wipes aren’t strong enough to remove all the dirt which is why you’ll need to use a cleanser. Apply a light moisturizer before bed.

  • You’re never too young for eye cream

The skin around your eyes is the thinnest on the body so the stress of your life will show in your eyes. Invest in a pair of sunglasses as well as a hydrating eye cream.

  • Adult Breakouts

For you acne breakouts, use a spot treatment that contains salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. These will not dry out the skin. Lastly don’t pick at the pimples. Ever. Unless you want to bear a scar well into your thirties.
