Comfort Foods That You Should Definitely Try

Comfort food is any food that makes you feel safe, especially food with high sugar content. It is also food that reminds you of your childhood, as those were times that you were most comforted. There are times in our life where we need that kind of comfort, when we feel sad or worried or anxious and need a little pick me up. So naturally we turn to food to give us a helping hand.

Ice cream

Ice cream is probably the most popular comfort food ever made. Eating large amounts of ice cream helps best when you have just gone through a bad breakup as the delicious taste will take your mind of your broken heart. Eating ice cream (chocolate is recommended) while binge watching your favourite shows will also make it more effective.

Mac and Cheese

Some people could have probably had Mac and Cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner as kids. It’s the type of food that makes you feel good while eating it. It’s warm, gooey and tastes amazing.

Strawberries

While junk food is generally the best kind of comfort food, it doesn’t hurt to try the healthier route to, especially if you’re someone who thinks they can’t afford the extra calories. However if you can afford to and just feel like relying on junk food to comfort you, then why not cover the strawberries in chocolate.

Happy Meal

If you can still remember being younger and wanting nothing more than to get your hands on a McDonald’s happy meal, not just for the food but also for the toy that goes with it, then a happy meal might do the trick.

Pancakes

Nothing like the ultimate breakfast food completely covered in all different kinds of syrups to make you feel good. There are also different flavour pancakes you can try out, chocolate chip, blueberry, banana and more.

Cake

Cake can remind you of those childhood times when your birthday was the best time of year and you couldn’t wait to blow out your candles and indulge on your birthday cake.

No matter what kind of emotions you might be feeling, the right kind of food can make all the difference. If there are other foods that remind you of your childhood, then give those a try.
