Desserts to Make this Christmas

The festive season is upon us and Christmas is almost here. One of the best parts about Christmas, aside from the presents of course, is the delicious food that is prepared. People have different tastes when it comes to Christmas food so turkey isn’t the only must have dish. One thing that should be a must have however are desserts. Here are a few famous holiday desserts that will sweeten up your Christmas.

Ingredients: 4 cups milk, 2 ½ tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp cinnamon (ground), 5 cloves, 12 egg yolks, 1 ½ cups sugar, ½ tsp nutmeg (ground), 4 cups light cream.

Combine the milk, ½ tsp vanilla extract, cinnamon and cloves and heat for 5 minutes and slowly bring to a boil. Separately, whisk together the sugar and egg yolks until fluffy. Then, mix with the milk mixture and heat it, stirring until thick. Remove the cloves and allow it to cool for about an hour. Add in the cream and 2 tsp vanilla extract and nutmeg and refrigerate overnight.

Ingredients: Sponge cake (1 or 2 depending on how big you want to make it), 1 packet jelly (strawberry or raspberry, fruit (peaches or strawberries), 25oml cream, 500 ml custard.

Make the jelly in a bowl and let it cool so it is just beginning to set. Place a sponge cake in a bowl and place fruit on top of it. Pour in the jelly so that it soaks into the sponge. Refrigerate until the jelly has set. Once it has set, add a layer of custard to it. Repeat these steps if you are using two sponge cakes instead of one. Whip the cream and spread over the top. You can add more fruit to the top or even chocolate.
