Beauty From The Pantry

Salt baths. Botox. Vampire facials. Whatever it may be, looking good has never cost so much. Although such regiments revitalise your skin, they seem to do the opposite to your bank accounts. Often than not, these products that claim to be natural are anything but and this can severely damage your skin. Nonetheless, instead of standing in queues or booking spa appointments to rejuvenate your skin the natural way, you can simply go through your pantry to create your own natural skin care products. Keep reading to find out which products belong not just in the kitchen but the bathroom as well.

Olive Oil

Olive oil can be used on both hair and skin for cleansing and moisturizing purposes. Massaging the oil into dry clean hair before wrapping it in a warm damp towel for 20 minutes before rinsing it out will help moisturize your locs. This procedure works well for natural hair. The oil can also be used as a makeup remover, especially for that pesky eyeliner.

Brown Sugar

Brown sugar is not just a sweetener. The product helps shed off dead skin cells making it the perfect exfoliation ingredient.  Mixing it along with honey and milk creates an easy face mask or substitute the milk for olive oil for a body exfoliation.

Avocado

Had enough guacamole to last you a lifetime? Well in that case use the remaining avocados to help with dehydrated skin and hair. Firstly mixing the avocado along with an egg yolk, olive oil and honey and applying the past on your hair will be perfect for a deep conditioning treatment.  Secondly, in hopes of hydrating your skin the best way would be to mix the avocado with orange juice.

Oats

Turns out oats are more than just a delicious nutritional breakfast.  Once mixed with plain yoghurt and honey it becomes a soothing face wash. The thicker the mixture, the more chances of it being used as a face mask.

Eggs

Prefer your eggs to be white-free? Perfect. Instead of chucking those white down the drain, mix them with honey and place the mixture onto your face for 15 minutes before washing it off and watch as your skin is tightened.

Here are a few more beauty quick-fixes that can be found in the walls of your kitchen;

Dandruff? Apple Cider Vinegar

Dry Elbows? Lemon

Eye Bags? Chamomile Tea(No don’t drink it. Pat the bag under your eyes)

Cellulite? Coffee grounds

Out of Shampoo? Baking Soda and Vinegar mix

Limp Hair? Beer (Yes! The myths are true. Beer, contains a lot of yeast and this adds volume to the hair)
