Bonang Matheba, also known as the queen B, recently celebrated her 30th birthday in a manner only suited for a queen. From the suspended cake in the air to the showstopping pink dress by Gert Johan Coetzee, we have no choice but to call this extravaganza the birthday party of the year.
Bonang is a force to be reckoned with. I know it, you know it and she definitely knows it herself. Not long after her birthday on the 25th of June the star tweeted the following “Basically… I’m 30 and killing it. The thirties came with a whole lotta confidence, why you didn’t tell me boo? I love you forever.” She also didn’t hesitate to go on and let everyone know how rich she is “…so, thank you. For the hate, the ugly names, the resistance, the jealousy, the negativity.. Made me work harder & now, I’m a millionaire” It’s no secret that she has had a very successful career and succeeding is something that she’ll keep on doing.
Being the mega star that she is, it’s only natural that South Africa’s most elite made the quest list. Celebrities like Basetsana Kumalo, Maps Maponyane, Khanyi Dhlomo, Tsepi Vundla, Nomzamo Mbatha, Lorna Maseko and of course AKA. “It’s a very big ball-gala-gown dinner. I mean, I’ve saved for over two-and-a-half years, so the budget is crazy. It’s like a wedding,” she told S Magazine. With a budget of R500 000, she wasn’t lying when she said it’s crazy. Covering live performances, ballerinas in tutu’s, personalised décor, a flower wall, gifts for the quests and let’s not forget her amazing dress.
If this is how Bonang throws a birthday party, I can’t wait to see how her wedding plays out. Although a wedding might be something of a distant future, more imminent things to look out for is the launch of not only one but a few of her new projects. Her new reality show Being Bonang, her Bmojis, her mobile app and the release of her book.
