August is declared as Women’s moth in South Africa. This is after more than 20 000 women of all race marched to union buildings in Pretoria against ‘pass laws’ in 1950.Below are South Africa’s most influential women we recognize this August.
1.Basestana Khumalo

The former beauty queen, business woman and Philanthropist has been ranked as one of South Africa’s most influential ladies. She is married to Romeo Kumalo who is also her business partner. Class and sophistication are Bassie’s most visible traits.
2. Connie Ferguson

She got famous for playing the role of Karabo Moroka on Generations for over 26 years. She is a co-founder and owner of Ferguson Films with her husband Shona Ferguson. Mrs. Ferguson works as an actress and behind the scenes. Her company has produced a drama called Rockville.
3.Bonang Matheba

Taking the third place is elite media personality, presenter, model, brand ambassador and business woman Bonang Matheba popularly known as ‘Queen B’. She is also one of the most hardworking women in the media industry and has bagged herself both national and international gigs. Famous for her exquisite taste in fashion, Bonang never misses the cut in lists of hardworking and influential women.
4. Terry Pheto

Known for her famous role as ‘Miriam’ on the Oscar winning 2005 movie named Tsotsi is Ms Pheto. She has went on to appear on an international soapie, The Bold And The Beautiful. She was the face of L’Oreal in 2005 and has acted on several dramas nationally.
5.Mpho Maboi

Breaking the boundaries of women is sports is Mpho Maboi. This talented Sports presenter and Radio Dj is famous for hosting sports related programs and has worked alongside Thomas Mlambo. She is the news anchor of SABC Sport and it is one of the most watched sports related programs in South Africa.
