Running on a treadmill can sometimes feel like a drag, especially if you like me who counts down the minutes until it’s over. Running however does not have to monotonous or feel like a chore, taking your running outdoors can change the running experience completely.

So lace up those colourful sneakers of yours and hit the ground running, whether you run 1 km or 10 you will feel an instant bounce in your step.  Running is something to be celebrated and the beauty is you do not have to alone, grab your friends and make it a team goal.

However sometimes it easier said then done to pluck up the courage to just start running, so here are some great inspirations from four celebrities who explain what the daily run or jog means to them and how its created heart – pounding memories.

Karlie Kloss

“To give the brain break

Karlie Kloss an international model and entrepreneur explains, “Running helps me clear my mind and gives me uninterrupted time to think,” as she told Runner’s World. “I also always feel re-centered and ready to take on the day after a really good run.” Kloss completed the Paris Half Marathon in 2015 and is lacing up her sneakers to train for her first ever marathon!

Christy Turlington Burns

“To make pregnancy and childbirth safe for all women”

Turlington a model and activist has created the organization called Every Mother Counts because of a scary statistic that states: One woman dies every two minutes as a result of complications from pregnancy or childbirth.  She has therefore created this organization to raise awareness and capital so that life- saving health care may one day be accessible. “Marathons are a lot like childbirth, you think you will never do it again until those endorphins kick in and you forget all about the pain and hard work.” Quoted from her Instagram page.

Julie Bowen

“To regain and maintain my sanity”

Bowen is known for her role as Claire in Modern Family, the actress explains to Runners World “When you’re in a house with lots of babies, no sleep, and everything is about their needs all of the time, I found that going out for a run in the morning before they got up even if it was just half an hour made me feel like I did something for myself,”

Feeling inspired? Today may be a great day to lace up and start a new running habit in the great outdoors.
