After weeks of anticipation, the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight took place last weekend and Floyd Mayweather left Las Vegas with yet another victory.
The undefeated champion won the bout by TKO in the 10th round and walked out with not just The Money Belt but also with a boxing record of 50-0, surpassing the record of boxing Hall of Famer Rocky Marciano.
Although Mayweather claimed the win, respect must be given to Conor McGregor, who surprised his critics with his performance in his debut match. The Irishman started of strong, holding his own against Mayweather and had the advantage for the first four rounds.
During the fifth round however, Mayweather took control of the match and began tiring McGregor out, which seemed to be the strategy all along. The match came to a close in round 10, with the referee having to stop the match.
“At the end of the day I was just the better man tonight. He’s a tough competitor and he still has a long career ahead of him.” said Mayweather after the fight.
This was Mayweather’s last match in the squared ring and he leaves undefeated. Both athletes did a great job, but at the end of the day, experience won.
