Many questions were asked about the legacy of Hugh Hefner when he passed away on the 27th of September 2017(Wednesday). Hugh Hefner who is the founder of the Playboy magazine and owner of the playboy mansion has left people asking questions on who will take over his riches. Most of it will probably go to his four children but the biggest question is what’s going to happen to the playboy mansion.
The playboy mansion has been Hugh Hefner’s home since 1971 but according to www.refinery29.com, he sold the mansion in 2016 to Daren Metropoulos who was his neighbour since 2009. Daren Metropoulos, the heir to the Hostess fortune and son of billionaire Dean Metropoulos will now take over the playboy mansion. According to Refinery29 Metropoulos first bought the residence next door to the mansion in 2009 for $18 million and in 2016 he bought the Playboy mansion for $100 million, reported the Los Angeles Times. That was half the original asking price but still the biggest sale ever recorded in Los Angeles County. It was agreed that Hefner and his third wife Crystal Harris, would live there until Hefner’s death. It was said he would pay $1 million per year in rent. Metropoulos also told The Wall Street Journal that “the heritage of this property transcends its celebrity, and to have the opportunity to serve as its steward would be a true privilege.” He also said that he plans to use “the beautiful property” as his private residence for years to come.
We will see how Daren Metropoulos will handle the 20,000-square-foot mansion which has 12 bedrooms, multiple kitchens, a gym, a screening room and a wine cellar. Outside there’s a tennis court, pool, guest house and of course the grotto where all those famous parties happened, this is according to Refinery29.
