Bonang Matheba’s new book has been a controversial topic since its release and it doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. The book, Bonang Matheba: From A to B, was criticised by many for its many grammar errors and has been the subject of many jokes. It even made its way into Trevor Noah’s new comedy show, There’s a Gupta on my Stoep.
Having had enough of the supposed hate, South African musician AKA took to Twitter to defend his girlfriend from those who criticise her for going into detail about her abusive relationship with Euphonik. He wrote, “A women is killed by her partner, we cry about domestic abuse in this country. When Bonang tells her story in her book, we laugh at her.”
Fans were not happy about the tweet and were quick to defend themselves from the accusation, saying that people weren’t laughing because of the abuse, they were laughing because of the grammar problems in the book. Despite the drama the tweet caused, it’s nice to see AKA standing up for his Queen B.
