With reality shows gaining more and more popularity, it was only a matter of time before Bonang Matheba herself joined the ranks of celebrity reality shows.
The 11 episode series, Being Bonang, aired last month on VUZU AMP and gives fans the opportunity to see her in a way that has never been seen before. The show was much anticipated by the fans and thought to become a huge success. However the ratings say otherwise.
According to the viewership numbers from July, the show failed to bring in much viewers as it didn’t make DSTV’s top 30 most watched shows for the month.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Matheba’s manager Sylvester Chauke said, “The ratings are completely inaccurate by far. The show has only been on air for three weeks and it is inaccurate to compare the show to others that have been on air for longer. Being Bonang is the most watched show on Vuzu by far.”
Queen B’s show does occupy the hardest Friday night primetime spot, so perhaps that should be taken into account. However fans think the problem stems from the fact that the show is only available on a DSTV Premium channel.

Whatever the reason is, changes are being made to the show. The viewership report has prompted a new director Olwehu Mlotshwa, who directed Living the Dream with Somizi, to be hired. Let’s hope it will help.
