After giving us an amazing season 3, the hit FOX TV show Empire will makes its much anticipated return this week. With the stories getting more intense and the stakes higher than ever, this season seems like it will be just as great as the ones before. For all you die hard Empire fans out there, let’s take a look at where some of our favorite characters left off and what we can expect from them in season four.
Lucious Lyon
We have always seen Lucious Lyon one way, as a ruthless man willing to do whatever it takes to stay on top. However the last time we saw him, he wanted to try and be better for his family. That was just before he was almost killed in an explosion and ended up in a hospital with memory loss. Due to this, season 4 will show us a different Lucious Lyon, one who doesn’t remember all the horrible deeds he committed in his past.
Andre Lyon
Speaking of the explosion, the attempt on Lucious life was orchestrated by his own son, moments after he finally gave him the keys to the kingdom, something Andre has wanted since the first season. Season 4 will show Andre dealing with the consequences of his actions and hoping his father doesn’t find out it was him.
Cookie Lyon
For Cookie, the season ended with her getting everything she wanted, Empire, Lucious and her family all together. However, due to everything that happened on the finale, season 4 will show a more reserved side of the usually fiery matriarch. Let’s not forget about the war that she has unknowingly brought on her family due to her bad break up with Angelo Dubois.
Jamal Lyon
Jamal has gotten over his PTSD, as well as his drug problems and has seemingly accomplished his mission of trying to end the cycle of violence that his family is caught up in. His new album has been released and he should be on top of the world. However it wouldn’t be Empire if every member of the Lyon family isn’t involved in some sort of drama. It seems Jamal will become another victim in the war with the Dubois family, as his new romantic interest turns out to be one.
Hakeem Lyon
Fatherhood seems to suit Hakeem and I’m sure we’ve enjoyed seeing his softer side in season 3. After his daughter was taken away by the Dubois family, he seemed to have made a deal with the devil to get her back. What exactly they want him to do, we’ll have to wait and see.
