CELEB WOMEN SHARE THEIR HOPES FOR SOUTH AFRICA

Every year on 9 August we celebrate Women’s Day in South Africa, a public holiday that pays homage to the women of our nation; – the mothers, the wives, the sisters and the daughters who fought tirelessly against the tyranny of the Apartheid government.

As we celebrate Women’s Month, we caught up with some of South Africa’s favourite celebs and asked them what their hopes are for the women of South Africa!

“More equality for women in the workplace. And protection for women against violence and abuse. So as mentioned, we have the laws, they are strong and there to help us – but now they need to be upheld and respected.” – ROXY BURGER, TV PRESENTER & CELEBRITY BLOGGER

“We as women need to stand together and develop impactful strategies to address the issue of Women’s rights in South Africa, and actively work together to educate women so that they are aware of their rights” – LIEZEL VAN DER WESTHUIZEN, RADIO PRESENTER & CELEBRITY VLOGGER

“That more young girls are empowered with the skills and confidence they need to become strong, independent women and future leaders.” – RADIO PERSONALITY, LINDY HIBBARD

“I sincerely hope that we learn to value the more feminine traits, like nurturing for example, the same as we do the masculine ones, like competition. My wish for every South African is access to education.” – ACTRESS, DEBORAH LETTNER

“I wish for a land without hatred and racism. I wish that we can all unite and build a better country for our children. As women I think we should take the lead to a better SA” – RADIO PERSONALITY, ROMY TITUS

“As a woman I hope to see more sustainable jobs created for the youth and to have a woman president for our country.” – TV PRESENTER, ELLE FRANCO

“In the next few years my hopes for South Africa is, to have more films/series/shows being produced, directed and shot by women that are recognised!” – ACTRESS, ANJI WOODLEY

We hope every woman in South Africa had a wonderful Women’s Day!
