Smart Phones, Smart TVs and Smart Watches. “Smart” is the latest catch phrase associated with the technology industry. Everything is slowly becoming Smart, and the technology we use daily in our households is no exception. With the way that technology is going, we have a sneak peek into the household of the future: The Smart House!
Ideas of what a Smart House would be range from doors you can open and close and even lock from a distance with an App on your phone, coffee machines that make your coffee for you in the morning when your alarm goes off (where has this been all my life?!), bathtubs that calculate the perfect temperature of your bath water and a fridge that will tell you what you are running out of so you can buy more on time. There is even talk of an electronic chef- a stove that can cook a meal all by itself when provided with ingredients and a recipe. This may seem almost science fiction, but these sorts of technologies are closer to becoming a reality than we may think.

Just imagine that. A home that literally recognizes you. It brings new meaning to the phrase “walls have ears”, and admittedly is slightly creepy, albeit awesome and exciting.
Technology is moving ahead with massive leaps and bounds and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. I foresee a time in which your fridge will probably have a firmer grip on reality than you.
I am just waiting for the app that makes your house clean itself! Now that’s a Smart Home I could really come to terms with.
