Going Bananas for Smoothie Bowls!

Gone are the days of drinking a smoothie through a straw! The new creative foodie trend a smoothie bowl allows you to eat your smoothie for breakfast. They have officially become the part of the healthiest breakfast foods world wide and one of Instagrams biggest stars.
If you are not on Instagram, all is forgiven for not having heard of it but this latest trend has truly taken the health community by storm.
The smoothie bowl is one of the hottest ways of getting in you’re a five a day and topped with delicious healthy ingredients such as crisp coconut flakes or merely thin slices of bananas. They are a fun way of dressing up the good old smoothies one is used too.
The bowls are absolutely gorgeous and ridiculously delicious too and the ingredients in the bowl are endless, like the Blackberry Avocado Jam piled with colourful flowers and varies types of seeds.

Although the bowls are mainly popular in America and Britain, they have slowly gained momentum in South Africa’s health food restaurants, selling their unique versions of the bowls.

Ingredients

2 bananas

125g frozen raspberries

1/2 cup (125ml) almond milk

2 tablespoons LSA meal (see tip)

1 cup (130g) granola

100g blueberries

100g strawberries, hulled, quartered

Method

Step 1

Thinly slice 1/2 banana. Coarsely chop remaining 1 1/2 bananas.

Step 2

Place the coarsely chopped banana in a blender. Add the raspberries, H2coco Pure Coconut Water, almond milk, LSA mix and half the granola. Blend until smooth.

Step 3

Divide the smoothie mixture evenly between 2 serving bowls. Arrange the blueberries, strawberry, remaining granola and the sliced banana in even rows on top of the smoothie.

The final step: ENJOY!
