Swedish musician Avicii sadly died on April 20 at the young age of 28 years old. Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling, was found dead in Muscat, Oman and his family has confirmed that he had taken his own life.
“Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions.” They said in a statement. “He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”
The DJ was born in Stockholm and rose to fame with his many hit songs. He stopped touring in 2017 because “he wanted to find balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music.”
Avicii’s girlfriend, Czech model Tereza Kacerova, shared a lovely tribute to him on Instagram. It starts of with Dear Tim, “I’ve spent the last days waiting to wake up, waiting for someone to tell me that this is some sick joke, some awful mistake. I think it’s finally settling on me now that I will truly never get to see you again.”
Kacerova talks about all the things they’ll never get to do and all the things she will miss. She goes on to say, “Last week I came back from Czech and was excited to get productive. But a deep sadness settled over me and I couldn’t do anything. It came from nowhere. I didn’t know why. Now I do. I felt this coming before I knew it had come.”
She finishes with, “I read that before he died, Thomas Edison came out of a coma, looked upwards and said “it is very beautiful up here.”. Take comfort in that. Rest in Peace Tim.”
