MONIQE FIDDES – PUTTING SOUTH AFRICA ON THE UK MAP!

She’s a South African born pop-star from Witbank, currently recording her very first UK album after having moved abroad some years ago to marry the man of her dreams, Matt Fiddes.
After a recent trip to South Africa, Moniqe spoke to The Eagle about her life in the UK, her career, and all things music.
Here’s what you need to know about the bubbly and beautiful, Moniqe Fiddes.
– She started singing from a very young age. After watching a movie called “Selena” at the tender age of 8, Moniqe felt inspired to dream big and to nurture her passion for singing.
– Her husband, Matt Fiddes, is one of the most respected experts in the international world of martial arts and fitness. Matt’s achievements have seen him honoured at the highest level, after being inducted into the UK Martial Arts Hall of Fame and presented with the prestigious ‘Martial Arts Superstar Award’. He has numerous celebrity clientele including actors, supermodels and singers. Undoubtedly Matt’s biggest client was superstar Michael Jackson. Introduced to Matt by his close friend Uri Geller, Matt was Michael’s personal UK bodyguard for over a decade before his tragic death in June 2009.
– In 2009 she got signed to a independent record company in South Africa and released her first album in 2010, called “Ek kan”. Her hit single “Tell me Y” reached over 230 000 views within 2 months.
– Due to her singing career, Moniqe left school after finishing Grade 10 at 16 years of age, and later went to do her TV and Drama diploma and received a A+ at the age of 17 yrs old.
– Moniqe is currently working with a former publisher and producer from EMI, who has worked with international A-lists pop stars such as Victoria Beckham and Kylie Minogue. He has already finished one of her singles and they are shooting the music video within the next few months.
– Moniqe explains that she writes music, songs, and creates the lyrics by watching other people’s emotions. She takes all the love she has for her husband, Matt Fiddes, and turns it into music as well.
– Moniqe is a mother to two beautiful boys, Hero and Zack, as well as “Mummy Moniqe” to her step daughters Madison, Lola and Savannah.
– Modelling has always been a part of her life since she was 15 years old. She made it to the Top 10 of the Candy Girls for Fashion TV Competition, alongside Melinda Bam, when she was 16.
– In 2012 Moniqe made front cover of the UK’s largest martial arts magazine Martial Arts illustrated. She has also been featured in major newspapers in the UK, like the Sun Newspaper.
– If she could collaborate with any singer, locally, it would be Juanita Du Plessis.
We wish Moniqe all the best and look forward to the release of her UK album.
