Thursday marked the death of Chester Bennington, lead singer of famous rock band Linkin Park. It is now confirmed that the singer committed suicide by hanging.
Bennington was found at his home in Palos Verdes Estates around 9AM by an employee. A partially drunk bottle of alcohol was also found in the same room.
The 41 year old has previously struggled with substance abuse and depression and was deeply affected by the death of his close friend Chris Cornell, singer of Soundgarden, who also committed suicide. In fact, Bennington’s death took place on what would have been Cornell’s 53rd birthday.
Linkin Park have shared details of suicide help lines on their official website in order to help others who may also be suffering, along with the message, “In case you or someone you know needs support, here are some resources.”
Fans everywhere took to social media to offer their condolences. The singer had contributed to the success of Linkin Park and became a favourite to many. He will surely be missed.
