Dealing With Gray Hair

The last thing anyone wants is to wake up one morning, look at yourself in the mirror and find a gray hair. It might not seem like a big deal at a certain age as it’s inevitable that we get them as we grow older, but what about finding them in your 20’s or 30’s? That could come as quiet a shock.

Don’t worry though, getting gray hair in your 20’s isn’t anything to worry about as it happens to a lot of people. Gray hairs are caused when your hair follicles begins to loose pigment cells that give them colour. There are a number of factors that cause this to happen.

Stress can play a part. You won’t go gray directly but it can cause your hair to go prematurely gray. Smoking is also a factor as it causes stress to your skin and hair. Another cause is genetics. Some people will just naturally gray faster than others.

When you do find a gray hair, your initial instinct might be to get rid of it or hide it. This can be done. While the saying that plucking one gray hair will cause two more to grow back is just a myth, it’s still not a good idea as you will only damage it. However you can cut them so people don’t see it. You can also permanently dye your hair to hide it or if you’re not into that idea you can try highlights to conceal them.
