It has been reported by radio 702 that Zimbabwe banned the controversial dancer from performing at the Harare international carnival due to her inappropriate dress code among other things.
The Zimbabwean acting minister of tourism and hospitality, Patrick Zhuwao announced that the Durban based sultry dancer will not be performing at the carnival.
According to several media outlets this happened after a Zimbabwean actress Anne Nhira suggested that Zodwa Wabantu should not be invited to the event due to her infamous reputation and that she is a lesbian.
The letter from the acting minister to Nhira states: “the government position is that the artist concerned, Zodwa Wabantu may not participate at the Harare International Carnival. In this regard, relevant authorities have been notified”.
Zodwa has completely dismissed reports on her sexuality after being banned from a country which shuns same sex relationships as they are illegal in Zimbabwe. She also claims that she was not aware that she was no longer welcomed in Zimbabwe. “they contacted me today to organize the plane ticket bookings, I know nothing about this” she said two days ag.
